Sara joined Education Pioneers with the desire to leverage her policy, development and partnership-building expertise to help create systems change in the education reform sector. With fifteen years of professional work experience, Sara Guderyahn has a strong track record of building powerful networks, developing strategic partnerships, reaching out to public forums and engaging the social entrepreneurship and philanthropic sectors.
In her first five years at Education Pioneers, and most recently as Vice President, Partner Strategy for Education Pioneers, Sara developed a bold and innovative vision and strategy for Education Pioneers to create an exceptional experience for our Partners including school districts, state agencies, high performing charter networks and non-profits. She also led the launch of our sites in Kansas City and Tulsa and spearheaded the pilot and expansion of EP’s Visiting Fellowship Program.
Previous to EP, Sara spent 7 years with The Sheridan Group, partnering with non-profits in both the domestic and international sectors. Some of her accomplishments include launching the nation's first advocacy coalition against human trafficking, developing and passing federal policy to enhance services for children in the foster care system and leading a coalition of social entrepreneurs around federal policy for education and innovation. She also supported numerous political campaigns, leading fundraising and grassroots efforts.
Prior to coming to The Sheridan Group and as part of the ContactTrust in Cape Town, Sara helped bridge the divide between South African parliamentarians and newly formed nongovernmental organizations, building advocacy capacity for the organization's portfolio. Domestically, Sara worked for Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) and focused her work on education and health care.
Sara has her undergraduate degree in government and economics and holds a Masters in Applied Political Science from American University.
