Our values represent our highest aspirations for how we engage as colleagues, Fellows, alumni, partners and broader members of the community working on behalf of our nation’s most underserved children. We believe that when we most fully embody our values, they will work in concert and enable us to fulfill our mission of solving problems outside of the classroom so that all kids can succeed inside of the classroom.
Courage
We demonstrate the moral wherewithal necessary to build a public education system that serves all children well.
Optimism
We believe that we can solve public education’s challenges – big and small. At the same time, we are open, honest, and direct about the current problems in the sector.
Collaboration
We recognize that no single person or idea can solve public education’s complex challenges and believe that people working together can create greater impact than any one individual or organization can accomplish alone.
Action
We work purposefully and with sustained effort to achieve EP’s long-term impact of solving problems from outside of the classroom so that all students can succeed inside of the classroom.
People Focused
We keep the students, families, and communities that we serve at the forefront of our work and we thoughtfully and responsibly steward the experiences of the extraordinary people who work with them and on their behalf.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We value all dimensions of diversity and seek to model the fairness and justice that we want to see in the world – and because of the work that we do, we place a particular focus on reflecting the children of color and low-income communities most impacted by our work.
Transformation
We believe in constantly learning and taking bold actions that create lasting, systemic change within public education.
