Rocketship Education is a network of public K-5 charter schools serving primarily low-income students in neighborhoods where access to excellent schools is limited. Using a blend of traditional instruction, adaptive technology, and targeted tutoring, Rocketship strives to meet the unique needs of each and every student. They believe that truly transformative schools do more than educate students; they also empower teachers, engage parents, and inspire communities.
Rocketship’s bold mission is to eliminate the achievement gap within our lifetime. Through continuous innovation since it was founded in 2006, Rocketship is rethinking elementary school.
Rocketship is expanding rapidly, opening between one and three new schools each year. In the fall of 2014, Rocketship will expand to Nashville, and it has also been approved to open schools in Memphis, Indianapolis, Washington, DC, and New Orleans. By 2017, Rocketship expects to serve over 25,000 low-income students.
Our Impact
Thirty Graduate School Fellows and Analyst Fellows have played a pivotal role in Rocketship’s expansion and operations since 2008. Over the years, they have:
- Developed curriculum for Rocketship’s leadership development program for principals-in-training and teachers with leadership aspirations, which has helped create a strong internal pipeline for school leadership talent.
- Led annual and strategic planning across the network, including developing organization performance dashboards to ensure that Rocketship’s executive team has the right data to inform key decisions that affect student learning.
- Analyzed critical financial data for fiscal year budget projections and cash flow modeling and recommended new expansion sites for the network that laid the groundwork for Rocketship to serve even more communities.
- And more.
