Summer Fellowship with Education Pioneers Complements Fels Education

My summer as a 2009 Education Pioneers Fellow enhanced my experience at Fels by providing me with meaningful opportunities to reflect on and learn about urban school systems and the challenges they face. Education Pioneers is a leadership pipeline that accepts graduate students studying Business, Policy, Education and Law and places them in education organizations – from local charter schools to national non-profits – in 6 cities across the U.S. Aside from the high-level, project-based work each fellow does at his or her placement organization, the cohort itself – around 44 graduate students in Boston and 225 nationally – attends a range of workshops on issues like School Choice, Parental Involvement, and Teacher Quality, each of which allows the fellows time to navigate the issues and hear perspectives from local leaders.
