I am an international student, am I eligible to apply?

International students are eligible to apply only if they are authorized to work in the United States and do not require any visa assistance. At this time, Education Pioneers and our Partners are unable to sponsor international visas. If your current visa sponsorship allows you to work and participate for the duration of your placement (summer track: mid-June through mid-August; career track: 10+ months), you are eligible to apply to our program.  Please take note that due to our placement process, applicants may only receive two weeks notice before they must start their summer track or career track position.

Do I need a graduate degree to apply?

You do not need a graduate degree to be eligible to apply. However, candidates who have enrolled in or completed a graduate degree typically fare better in our selection process. 

I have been rejected from an Education Pioneers Fellowship in the past, can I apply again this year?

Yes, you are welcome to apply for the Education Pioneers Fellowship again as long as you are authorized to work in the United States and meet our current eligibility requirements (they have changed for 2017). Please keep in mind that the summer track has two admissions rounds and candidates not advancing in the priority round cannot apply again for the final round of admissions.

Is the admissions process the same for the summer and career tracks? What are the steps? 

The admissions process for the summer track and career track involve different steps. You can find more details about the summer track admissions process and the career track admissions process here

Can I apply to both tracks?

No, you must select the track that best meet your needs. Learn more about the summer track and career track to determine which is best for you. If you are not accepted to the EP Fellowship for the track you have selected, you are not eligible to apply for either track for one year. 

How do I know if you have received my application?

After you submit your application, you'll receive a confirmation and follow-up email that explains the next steps in the process.  

Do you require references as part of your admissions process?

We require two references as part of your admissions file. You can provide your references with your initial application or anytime before you complete your In-depth Interview. There is no penalty for submitting your references after submitting your application. We allow this option because we understand that it may take extra time to finalize your reference choices.

When will my references be contacted? 

EP only contacts references if you are invited beyond the In-depth Interview stage of our admissions process. You will be contacted 72 hours prior to reference forms being sent to your specified references, allowing you to ensure your reference information is up-to-date and preview with your contacts. There is no need to contact EP to confirm your references have completed their forms. If we have further questions or need to follow up about references, we will reach out to you individually. 

My resume has changed substantially since I uploaded it, can I re-upload it?  

Please reach out to recruiting@educationpioneers.org with your updated resume. We highly encourage all candidates to make sure their resumes are the most up-to-date, including current club/organization membership, leadership experience, honors and awards, and volunteer work.

What cities do you place Fellows in? 

In 2017, Education Pioneers will place Fellows in the following locations:

Does EP offer relocation money to move to my placement location?

Unfortunately, no, EP is not able to help our candidates with relocation efforts. 

How long is a summer track placement?

Summer track placements span 10 consecutive weeks, and candidates must be available to work all 10 weeks. Placement details can vary by Partner, but you would be alerted to any variation. Placements typically run from mid-June through mid -August.

How long is a career track placement?

Career track placements can range from a long-term/fixed-term role (10 months or longer) to a permanent, full-time role within an organization. Placement details will be communicated if and/or when you match with a specific role. Your cohort experience will begin near the beginning of your placement; we offer cohorts every quarter.

What are the program dates for this year? 

Summer track: Programming for our summer 2017 cohort will run from mid-June 2017 through mid-August 2017. Specific dates will be released in the spring.
Career track: Programming for the fall 2016 cohort runs from October 2016 through December 2016. We run additional cohorts every quarter.

Does being a finalist in the matching and placement process mean I am guaranteed to become a Fellow?

Unfortunately, no. We believe our finalists have the potential to make a big impact on the education sector; however, becoming a Fellow is contingent on confirming a placement with a Partner. We match candidates with projects that we think will be a good fit based on the information we have from you and the needs of our Partners. You and a Partner must interview and agree that a role is a good fit in order to be confirmed. Not every finalist will receive matches, and not every match will result in a placement.

Can I speak to someone at EP on the phone?

Due to the high volume of requests and questions we receive, we recommend emailing recruiting@educationpioneers.org to most effectively receive the information you desire.

Can I speak with an EP Alumnus/a?

Alumni are involved in some of our recruitment events and as part of interview staff. However, due to the high volume of requests to connect with Alumni and their busy schedules, we are not set up to facilitate formal interactions. Thank you for understanding.
