Rebecca Shor is a member of the 2010 Boston cohort of Education Pioneers and spent her summer with Stand for Children, an innovative advocacy organization that uses the power of grassroots action to help all children get the excellent public education and strong support they need. More specifically, she surveyed the digital and guerilla marketing landscapes in order to create a strategic plan designed to capitalize on the release of the film, Waiting for Superman. The plan she created enabled Stand to recruit, engage and mobilize a new cohort of advocates for children. In addition, she conducted analyses of Stand's email and mobile communication strategies and developed best practice training guides. Prior to entering graduate school, Rebecca worked as a nonprofit research manager at the Center for Research on Culture, Development and Education in New York City and the Institute for Mind and Biology in Chicago. Last year she served as the clinical social work intern at the Malden Teen Parenting Program in Malden, MA. Rebecca is an alumni of the University of Pennsylvania and will graduate from Boston College in Spring 2011 with the MSW and MBA degrees.
