Kate Levine joined Education Pioneers in Newark, NJ (New York City Metro Cohort) in summer 2010, working at the Human Assets Department of TEAM Schools for KIPP's Newark Network. While at TEAM, Kate evaluated best practices in teacher recruitment with a special commitment to diversity recruiting by consulting with key stakeholders and human capital leaders. Using data collected from literature, interviews, surveys and focus groups, she: 1) created recommendations for a recruitment strategy; 2) structured the development of an internal pipeline; and 3) developed a better understanding of the role that onboarding plays in retention. Kate will receive her Masters in Social Work at New York University in 2011, and completed a Masters in Education Policy and Management at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education in 2009. Her graduate work interests have tended towards schooling policies and educational and therapeutic interventions for youth in foster care and charter schools. Before graduate school, Kate worked in college admissions, college counseling and college access at the university and secondary school levels.
