Liz Ackert joined Education Pioneers in the Bay Area in the summer of 2006. Liz worked with Springboard Schools to create a professional development module focused on addressing the needs of English Language Learners in California public schools. The module promotes district-wide reform for English Language Learners and incorporates the latest scholarly research in the field, including several key findings from Springboard's own Best Practice studies. Working with Springboard gave Liz the opportunity to share her expertise on immigration and second language acquisition while learning more about 'best practices' and district-wide reform from experienced practitioners.

Liz began her career as an Americorps volunteer at a bilingual school in Lafayette, Colorado. She continued to work in the Boulder Valley School District as a Spanish Teacher at a growing college preparatory charter school. While at the charter school, she worked extensively to develop and implement an inter-disciplinary world languages curriculum at the K-12 levels.
