Jessica Marek

Jessica Marek joined Education Pioneers as a Los Angeles Fellow in the summer of 2007. Jessica spent her summer at The Alliance for Children's Rights working on the Special Education Project providing direct advocacy for Foster Care Children who are in need of receiving educational services.
After graduating from USC as a double major in theatre and political science, Jessica was a 2004 Teach for America corps member in New York City. Through Teach for America Jessica taught first grade in the South Bronx. She has also taught art therapy to abused children at organizations such as The Los Angeles Community Counseling Center. While an undergraduate at USC, she founded the "Project Wings" Foster Care Middle School Mentoring Program. She has also volunteered as an educational surrogate for foster care youth and has taught street law classes in juvenile hall.
