Education Pioneers Founder Receives 40 Under 40 Leadership Award
New Leaders Council selects Scott Morgan for entrepreneurial leadership

Oakland, CA -Scott Morgan, founder and CEO of Education Pioneers, will receive the New Leaders Council (NLC) 40 Under 40 Leadership Award this evening at a ceremony in San Francisco. Morgan will join the ranks of top young, dynamic leaders selected by the New Leaders Council, a nationwide institute devoted to training young progressive political entrepreneurs.

Morgan founded Education Pioneers in 2003 to provide top graduate students with a clear career path to the education sector and mobilize them to become education's future change agents. Since its inception, Education Pioneers has grown into a national network with operations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, D.C., New York City, Boston, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles.

Morgan launched Education Pioneers with a clear mission to advance education reform by increasing the leadership talent supply within the education sector. A Stanford law school graduate and former award-winning teacher, Morgan served as legal counsel for renowned charter school organization, Aspire Public Schools. After his own struggle to select the right career path inside the field of education but outside the school building, Scott was motivated to create a clear track for emerging top leaders within the sector. Since its launch, Education Pioneers has placed more than 900 developing leaders in United States education organizations.

"Scott has created what those of us in the private sector call a ‘category killer'," said Silicon Valley venture capitalist and Education Pioneers board member, Paul Sherer, "Education Pioneers is among a very select few national organizations focused on infusing top leadership talent broadly into the education sector outside the school building."

This is the 3rd annual presentation of NLC's 40 Under 40 Leadership Awards. Past recipients include Chancellor of District of Columbia Public Schools Michelle Rhee, Rogers Family Foundation Chief Program Officer Jonathan Klein, and CEO of Partnership for Los Angeles Schools Marshall Tuck. Honorees receive awards for their leadership in the areas of entrepreneurship, advocacy, media, and politics. The ceremony will take place at San Francisco's SPUR's Urban Center, 654 Mission Street, at 6:30 pm.
