About Summer Advantage USA
Summer Advantage USA is a project headed by Earl Martin Phalen, a fellow through the The Mind Trust's Education Entrepreunership Fellowship.
One of the most effective strategies for impacting student achievement, summer learning, has gone virtually unused in the United States. Summer learning - which is not punitive summer school - provides children with a rich array of academics and enrichment (i.e., art, music, drama, physical fitness, and community service); connects children with experienced educators and caring adult mentors; and engages parents more deeply in the education of their children. The goals of Summer Advantage USA are (1) to provide transformative summer learning experiences to over 100,000 children, (2) to transform the way this nation educates children, and (3) to create a pipeline of social entrepreneurs to lead summer learning and other educational programs.
About The Mind Trust

The Fellowship offers promising education entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop and launch their break-the-mold education ventures and the support necessary for success.
