Over the past two months, Philanthropedia surveyed 99 experts working in the field of education, with an average of 19 years of work experience in the field, to identify the organizations that were making the biggest positive impact on a local level.

These experts reviewed 162 organizations and identified 17 as performing the best when it comes to meeting their missions; Education Pioneers ranked #4.

Today we are pleased to share some exciting news: Education Pioneers has joined a new collaboration to help accelerate our mission to transform education into the best led and managed sector in the U.S.!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we have partnered with The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems and the Strategic Data Project, part of Harvard's Center for Education Policy Research, to form Activate ED (www.activate-ed.org).

Jackie Pohl, VP of Finance and Operations at Education Pioneers, and Education Pioneers are profiled in the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business Social Impact Report.

Policy Research at Harvard University join forces through support from the Gates Foundation

December 11, 2012 - Oakland, Calif. - With the goal of connecting school systems with 3,500  leaders, managers and analysts, three of the nation's leading education organizations have launched Activate ED, a collaboration to expand their pipeline of skilled professionals entering roles in public education outside the classroom. The organizations joining forces to create
Activate ED include: The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems, Education Pioneers and the Strategic Data Project. The partner organizations and their work together to form Activate ED are supported through a series of grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Activate ED is launching a website (www.activate-ed.org) to recruit 1,500 new leaders through a variety of fellowships and residencies by April 2014, and provides a single source for potential applicants to learn about and apply for opportunities. In addition, Activate ED will create a national network of fellowship alumni, currently more than 2,000 strong, which will include a platform where best practices are shared between alumni and education leaders. This platform also serves as a strong talent pool for potential employers. As of today, Activate ED features nearly 400 high-profile career opportunities, including executive positions in education non-profits, school districts, charter management organizations, and positions with state agencies and the U.S. Department of Education.

In his article for Education Week, "Smart Cities: Houston's Low Tech Lift Off," Tom Vander Ark writes about Education Pioneers' work in Texas:

ʺEducation Pioneers' Houston office has become the headquarters for their aggressive growth in their southern region. In their first three years, Education Pioneers Texas, has placed a total of 87 fellows with numerous education organizations. Over the next three years they will be almost tripling their presence, placing a total of 240 talented leaders, managers, and analysts in Texas to drive forward mission-critical initiatives that address the educational needs in the state.Nearly half of those fellows will keep the reform momentum going in Houston while the others will start the flywheel in Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio."

Education Pioneers Opens Applications for Education Organizations to Secure Top Talent

National Nonprofit's 2013 Partnerships Provide the Education Sector with Top Leaders, Managers, and Analysts to Transform Results for Students

Oakland, CA - Education Pioneers, a national nonprofit dedicated to transforming education into the best led and managed sector in the U.S. economy so that all students receive a high-quality education, announced today that applications for the organization's 2013 Partnerships are now open.

Education Pioneers is currently seeking partnerships with education organizations - including school districts, charter management organizations, education nonprofits, and state departments of education - that share the belief that strong leaders and managers working outside the classroom are key to support teachers' important work inside the classroom.
