University's 2013 Social Impact Challenge Will Develop Effective Growth Strategy for National Nonprofit to Transform the Education Sector

Oakland, CA - With the goal of transforming the education sector by introducing thousands more top leaders and managers into education leadership careers nationwide, including hard-to-staff cities like Detroit, Education Pioneers and the University of Michigan have joined forces.  Education Pioneers, a $10 million national nonprofit organization operating in 18 cities nationwide, will be the subject of the University of Michigan's 2013 Social Impact Challenge, sponsored by the university's Nonprofit and Public Management Center.

Education Pioneers' work rests on a fundamental belief that smart investments in leadership generate significant returns. Highly successful private-sector organizations like Google, IBM, GE and McKinsey & Company know that the best way to achieve ambitious results is to find, develop and retain the best people in leadership and management roles.  Education Pioneers believes that for schools, districts and systems to enable all children to achieve at high levels, the quality of leadership and management is vital.

In this Twitter Q&A, Tom Vander Ark and Activate ED (Education Pioneers' collaborative with The Broad Center and the Strategic Data Project) talk about education technology, blended learning, data in education, and what's coming next.

In 2012, Education Pioneers was recognized as a top nonprofit organization in both the San Francisco Bay Area and the greater Washington, D.C. area.

Speaking about Education Pioneers' new collaborative with The Broad Center and the Strategic Data Project to find more top leaders - called Activate ED - Scott writes, "Together we will continue to look for the best leaders, managers and analysts in the country to support, strengthen and transform urban education. We believe that collaboration is vital for success, whether in schools, districts or within the new Activate ED network."

In this Q&A with ProFellow, EP Alumnus Chike Aguh talks about how each of the fellowships he has pursued "has provided him skills and opportunities that support his long-term goal: to reimagine and innovate the American education system so that all children and citizens, particularly the poorest, are prepared to be innovators in today's global economy."
