FAQ

Q: FELLOWS: When does the summer program begin?
A: The summer program begins with Foundations; a two day workshop intended to introduce Fellows to Education Pioneers, other Fellows in their cohort and the summer Fellowship experience. Greater Boston Area, DC Metro and New York Metro Area Foundations are held on Monday June 8th and Tuesday June 9th. The Bay Area, Chicago and Los Angeles Foundations are held on Monday June 15th and Tuesday June 16th. Attendance at your site is mandatory.

Q: FELLOWS: When do I begin/end my summer work?
A: Fellows in Greater Boston Area, DC Metro & New York Metro Area begin Wednesday June 10th and end Wednesday August 19th. Fellows in the Bay Area, Chicago & Los Angeles begin Wednesday June 17th and end Wednesday August 26th.

Q: FELLOWS: Can I begin my project before the start of the summer program or delay the start date?
A: Only in rare exceptions can Fellows begin their project early. On occasion, academic schedules or specific Partner needs make this necessary. Education Pioneers strongly discourages starting more than a week early or late. Please consult your Program Director if it is absolutely necessary you or your Partner begin your summer scope of work on a different date.

Q: FELLOWS: Is attendance at summer program events mandatory?
A: Yes. Fellows are expected to attend all events prepared, on-time and dressed professionally.

Q: FELLOWS: What is Foundations? What is Capstone?
A: Foundations is the first opportunity each cohort has to come together as a group. This time is spent exploring critical topics but is also a time for the cohort to form their own identity, to learn more about one another, and to begin to set norms with one another. Capstone is the last time your cohort will formally come together as a group. This is an opportunity for the group to share feedback with one another, to look forward to future professional and academic ventures, to learn more about your role and our relationship as you transition to the Alumni phase of the program.

Q: FELLOWS: What is the Fellows Showcase?
A: The Fellows Showcase is an end of summer event that brings together our Fellows, Partners, Alumni, supporters and other members of the Education Pioneers community to celebrate the work of our Fellows and Partners. This celebratory event has continued to serve as a signature element of the Fellows Program and a valuable opportunity to share what we do, the impact of our Fellow and the incredible work of our Partners. Dates and details will be shared on a local level.
