About Mass Insight
"The intersection of educational research, policy, and practice."
Mass Insight Education and Research Institute, Inc., founded in 1997, is an independent non-profit that organizes public schools, higher education, business, and state government to significantly improve student achievement, with a focus on closing achievement gaps. Mass Insight's work is guided by the assumption that sound education policy stems from good research and an understanding of the realities of school practice. They apply that assumption to bring about meaningful -- not marginal -- school reform. They are, therefore, synthesizers and providers of research, policy facilitators, and leaders in standards-based service providers to schools.
Mission
Mass Insight's mission is the transformation of public schools into high-performance organizations that bring all students to college readiness.
Impact
The strategies that Mass Insight implemented to help make Massachusetts a reform model now inform the organization's work on two high-impact goals:
- 1) Using Advanced Placement as a lever to attain excellence in math, science, and English achievement and to transform school culture, and
- 2) the successful turnaround of consistently under-performing public schools.
