About Harlem Village Academies

Harlem Village Academies aims for a higher standard. They believe it is essential that students become sophisticated and critical thinkers, coherent writers, confident speakers, and avid readers. They seek to inspire in their students a passion for inquiry, and a genuine love of learning. They believe it is also important for students to master the basics, so they have designed a core set of skills all students must master, exams they must pass, and content they must learn.

Our Vision: Higher Level Learning. Harlem Village Academies aims for a higher standard: students who think critically, argue passionately, and take ownership of their learning. We believe it is essential that students become fiercely independent and sophisticated thinkers, coherent writers, confident speakers, and avid readers. We seek to inspire in our students a passion for inquiry, and a genuine love of learning.

Impact

Harlem Village Academies recently made history as our students were the first class of eighth graders ever in Harlem to achieve 100% passing on the state math test. In addition, 100% passed science, 96% passed social studies, and on the New York City grading system, our schools earned a grade of "A" in every category and "A" overall. For three years in a row in eighth-grade math, Harlem Village Academies has ranked #1 of all public schools in New York State.
