Work Experience

Fellows receive full-time experience managing a critical project for an Education Pioneer Partner school, district or education organization.

Work experience details:

  • Stipend: $7,000 ($700 / week for 10 weeks)
  • Full-time
  • 10 weeks
  • Consultant for critical organization project
  • Under supervision of experienced organization leader
  • Precise placement of Fellow with organization and project
  • Clearly-defined and manageable scope of work

Education Pioneers is as selective about choosing our Partners as we are about selecting our Fellows. We partner with leading education organizations that share our commitment to improve education opportunities for urban students and to groom and advance top talent. Past Education Pioneers Fellows have:

  • Managed $600,000 charter school facility renovation
  • Presented a series of policy recommendations to the Secretary of Education
  • Developed a scenario model to forecast the effect of human capital initiatives in a school district
  • Designed a professional development curriculum for a school
  • Conducted legal and policy research for education related litigation

Placement Process:

Once a Fellow has been accepted into the Education Pioneers program, our staff reviews their skill-set and interests to place them in the most relevant project to fulfill the needs of both the Fellow and the partner organization. As a result, the time it takes to match a Fellow may vary based on the individual or Partner.
