Selection Criteria

Analyst Fellowship applicants must have:      

  • A bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time professional work experience by August 2012 (excluding undergraduate summer work) in highly analytical or quantitative roles
  • A distinguished academic record
  • Authorization to work in the United States (international students are eligible only if visa assistance is not required)
  • A strong commitment to the 10-month program (August 2012 to June 2013), including attending and participating in all mandatory events and workshops

Analyst Fellowship preferred qualifications include:

  • Two years of work experience as a consultant or analyst
  • Experience in: finance, strategy, marketing, or operations
  • A strong commitment to Education Pioneers' mission and core values of courage, optimism, collaboration, and action
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to improving K-12 education
  • Exceptional problem solving, analytic, and oral and written communication skills
  • Effective project management skills, including attention to detail and demonstrated project outcomes
  • Energetic, self starter who takes the initiative to drive to results even in ambiguous situations


Selection Process and Timeline

The admissions process for the Analyst Fellowship consists of two application rounds: priority and final.  The priority round application deadline is February 1, 2012; the final round application deadline has been extended to April 6, 2012.

The Analyst Fellowship has a multi-step admissions process that incorporates an online application and cover letter, a quantitative asessement, and interviews.  We review applications on a rolling basis during the application round in which they are received.  Candidates may only apply once for the 2012 Fellowship.

Placement

The Analyst Fellowship's individualized placements match Fellows' skills and interests with Partners' needs.

Once candidates are accepted into the Analyst Fellowship, Education Pioneers works closely with Fellows to place them with education organizations - including school districts, government agencies, charters schools, and non-profits - on important initiatives where they can maximize their experience.  From strategic business planning and operations consulting to teacher retention strategy and program evaluation, Fellows find engaging work and an opportunity to make an impact over the 10-month Analyst Fellowship.

In 2012, Education Pioneers will place Analyst Fellows with Partner organizations in the Greater Boston Area, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York Metro Area, and the state of Texas. The majority of placements in Texas are in Dallas and Houston with 1-3 total placements in San Antonio, Austin, and the Rio Grande Valley. Additionally, a small number of Fellows (2-6) will be placed in Chicago, DC Metro Area, Denver, Nashville, and New Orleans. While each site offers unique projects and partnerships, the high quality of the Fellowship and professional development curriculum remain consistent.
